Ms. Mercer graduated with distinction from the three year Graphic Design Program at St. Lawrence College, recieving the following awards:

• the Vice-President’s Academic List Award, recognizing returning students having the highest grade point average for 1995, 1996, and 1997 in each program, as well as being a role model for other students and exhibiting class leadership
• the Academic Council Medal
• the Canadian Pulp and Paper Bursary

She continued to develop her skills at Sheridan College, where she received her Computer Graphics Diploma for developing an interactive multimedia CD.
